Join Our Team

We are seeking a Controller to assist the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with the accounting operations of the organization. This position requires the production of periodic financial reports and analysis, maintenance of all adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the organization’s reported financial results. This position is located at the YMCA NL Administration and Project Office in St. John’s.

Job Requirements

  • Business degree in Accounting accompanied by CPA designation
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the accounting field, including completion of month end closing procedures
  • 2-4 years’ experience working in non-profit
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of accounting software and Microsoft suite of products
  • Previous experience using Sage 300 is required
  • Previous experience with completing month-end accounting procedures, including journal entries and account reconciliations, is required
  • Previous experience in a non-profit organization would be preferred
  • Previous experience with Payworks and ActiveNet would be an asset
  • Understand the necessity to keep information confidential and to meet the requirements of Privacy Legislation
  • Assist with providing documentation/support to external auditors
  • Acceptable Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sectors Check
