Strong Kids Fun Day
YMCA Strong Kids Fun Day
June 7 | 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Join us for our very first YMCA Strong Kids Fun Day—a morning of movement, excitement, and community spirit, all in support of a great cause!
- $25 per participant | $20 for YMCA members
- For school-age children (Kindergarten to Grade 12)
- Activities take place in the YMCA Gymnasium and Aquatics Centre
- Kids will bike, run, and swim for 10 minutes each, for 30 minutes of fun and active movement!
- Prizes and refreshments will be provided.
- Don’t miss this energetic and inspiring event—it’s the perfect way to get moving!

Cycle-A-Thon
Join us and pedal for a purpose as we raise funds to ensure the YMCA remains a place where everyone has a chance to participate and belong!
When: June 21, 2025, from 9 am – 12 pm
Registration Fee: $1000 per team
Three cycle ride slots: 9 am, 10 am, 11 am
Teams consist of six people, with two team members riding per time slot.
Prizes
- Cycle Fit Showdown – Awarded to the team that cycles the most collective kilometers.
- Fundraiser Champions – Goes to the team that raises the most funds for the cause.
- Best in Show – For the team with the most creatively decorated bikes!
- PLUS: Prize draws happening throughout the morning—so there’s always a chance to win!

We’re excited to announce that as part of the Year of Sports, Ches Penney Family YMCA is offering a FREE Aqua Fit Program.
These classes are designed for all fitness levels, with a focus on joint-friendly workouts. Space is limited, and registration opens a few days in advance each week, so be sure to sign up early!

Make a splash with Aqua Zumba at Ches Penney Family YMCA! Join us every Tuesday from 9 AM to 10 AM, starting April 8, for a high-energy, water-powered workout that blends dance and fitness. Best of all, it’s completely FREE as part of our Year of Sports Programming!

Small Steps for Big Changes
Helping You Reduce Your Risk
You can lower your risk of developing type 2 diabetes by making changes to your diet and activity levels.
Small Steps for Big Changes is an evidence-based diabetes prevention program that helps people make lasting diet and exercise changes. The program consists of six one-on-one sessions over one month. Clients receive personalized exercise training, learn motivational techniques to help stick with exercise and strategies for meal planning. Includes a 6-week consecutive free pass to the Ches Penney Family YMCA in St. John’s.

If you are qualified, you will be asked to provide contact information to sign up. Our team will contact you to discuss the program and schedule your coaching sessions.

Hope for Dementia
Limited spaces are still available for the Intergenerational Learning Program.
Hope for Dementia is an Intergenerational Learning Program that aims to:
1. Reduce the risk of cognitive decline among vulnerable seniors
2. Build awareness about dementia among youth
3. Youth teach seniors digital skills
4. Seniors share life experiences with youth
5. Youth and seniors participate in common activities such as cooking, craft, games, etc.
