YMCA Community Action Network (YCAN)

Addressing the Needs in Your Community

The YMCA Community Action Network is designed to help youth ages 15-30 create actionable change in their communities. Through a guided curriculum, participants learn how to identify needs in their communities, create a project to address those needs, then successfully run the projects, learning that they have the ability to enact change.

We are looking to support YOU to team up, develop and deliver projects that address needs in your local community.

Why Participate?

  • Meet like-minded youth in the community
  • Make a difference to those in need
  • Learn transferable career and life skills
  • Gain valuable volunteer hours, applicable to high school career hours, Duke of Edinburgh, etc.
  • Get the opportunity to participate in National Youth Conferences, where youth from all across Canada come together to talk about becoming leaders in their communities
  • Receive a certificate and present upon the completion of the program
