Join Our Team
We are seeking a Program Coordinator to support and lead the Alternative Suspension Program. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for providing supports to high school students who, for various reason are temporarily excluded from their schools. You would be responsible for developing and strengthening the Alternative Suspension program while working in direct collaboration with the School Board. Providing individual and group interventions for secondary-level youth struggling with their school environment, within a supportive and helping relationship. You will lead reflective workshops while managing and preparing reports, evaluations and program representations. This is a Hybrid/Remote contract position based out of St. John’s at the Ches Penney Family YMCA with an expected end date of June 30, 2026.
Job Requirements
- Post-secondary diploma of certificate in intervention or a related field
- Two to three years of experience in intervention, specifically with a 12-17-year old demographic
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Valid Newfoundland Drivers licence with access to a vehicle
- Ability to travel, including out of province National training
- Standard First Aid and CPR
- Acceptable Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sectors Check
