Pre K Available

YMCA Pre-K is a regulated child care program located in your child’s school. The program is designed for children to attend for the year prior to their entry into Kindergarten. Waitlists remain open for all upcoming years with ongoing intake, so you may add your child’s name at any time.

Programs run five days per week year-round and are closed for statutory holidays as well as YMCA closures (i.e. discretionary days) set by the YMCA of Newfoundland and Labrador. Part-time registration options (less than five days per week) are not available. All registrants are subject to a non-refundable registration fee upon registration.

Registration Fee: $25.00 (one-time fee)

Cost: $10 per day

Caregiver Ratio: 1:10

Age: 3 years, 8 months – 5 years, 9 months

The Assumption of Risk and Waiver of Liability must be completed by all parents/guardians.

The Provincial Registrar is available for live calls Monday to Friday, from 8:30am-11:30am. Please leave a voicemail if line is busy. All messages will be answered within a 24–48-hour period. For all messages that are received on weekends or holidays, expect messages to be answered by the end of the following Tuesday or Wednesday.

The YMCA is pleased to be collaborating with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador in providing an online platform that is accessible to everyone in our province. Early Learning Gateway will improve access to early learning and child care by connecting child care services and families through a digital waitlist.

The YMCA of Newfoundland and Labrador utilizes the My Y Canada App. The My Y Canada App is the platform where members book their space in any given class or program. The YMCA recommends all members download the MY Y Canada App. It’s free to download and there are no in app purchase options. App use is specifically for information such as hours of operation at your YMCA branch and single day bookings for programs that are available at no cost to YMCA members. All classes and programs displayed on the app require booking.

Children may join on their own as members. Parents do not require a membership but can participate with their children for a day pass fee. Parents can supervise or watch their children play, but if parents want to attend gym programs they must buy a Day Pass. Child minding for 0-6 years is accessible through family memberships only.

No. The YMCA is a charity that believes in fairness and equality. Financial assistance is available to individuals and families in need or on fixed incomes (not everyone on a fixed income may need FA). Members of YMCA Newfoundland and Labrador have unlimited access at our Health, Fitness and Aquatic branches which includes Ches Penney Family YMCA in St. John’s, Marystown YMCA in Marystown, Placentia Regional YMCA in Placentia, Bonavista Regional YMCA in Bonavista and Central Labrador YMCA in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

Your membership card will also be accepted at any YMCA in North America. The amount or frequency of your visits may be restricted based on each association’s policies surrounding out-of-town members. Find your YMCA by visiting the YMCA Canada website.
