Join Our Team

The General Manager, Central Labrador YMCA is an independent and self-motivated individual responsible for overseeing all programs and services for members, participants, staff and volunteers. The position includes direct supervision of related Health Fitness and Aquatics (HFA) staff and supervisors who ensure high quality customer service and membership sales, growth, and retention. The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing the sound management of membership service, centre budgets, program delivery, and facility cleaning and may have direct responsibility for one or more management areas. The ability to articulate and demonstrate the impact the YMCA has on our community is an important competency, as is effectively engaging members and participants on all Association programs and on the Mission, Vision and Values of the YMCA.

Job Requirements

  • University degree in related field or related experience
  • At least two years of leadership/management experience or equivalent
  • Proven customer service, human resources, and business experience
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • High emotional intelligence, i.e. self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, social skills
  • Strong knowledge of relevant business technology; experience with ActiveNET software is an asset
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR (C)
  • Acceptable Certificate of Conduct with Vulnerable Sector Check
